kudos of the week!
this is a pic taken with my new camera. it took me MONTHS to buy this thing. here is another one: the time and date stamp seems like a great idea...but i don't like it.
anyway, i purchased the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS (found at amazon here). that means nothing to me. but i did a lot of research (read: a little bit of reading, a LOT of whining about researching and a lot of trusting my gut). i LOVE it thus far. it seems like it will surpass all of my needs AND PC World just listed it as #8 in their top whatever must-have electronics and called it "the budding photographer's best friend".
So....the name of my new camera: The Budding Photographer's Best Friend. You'd be stunned at how many times i've referred to it by it's FULL name.
I'm almost positive this is the exact one I have. I've loved it thus far. I only wish it'd focus and take faster. (mostly at night) But maybe that's the point you get one of those $500 cameras for that. :)

With you on the time/date stamp. It gets in the way and takes away from the photo somehow. If it's digital, you shouldn't need it, right?
