the other day my friend J. and i went to the spaghetti warehouse for lunch. we were set for a nice alternative to the crappy wraps that they give you when you are in a crowd of several hundred like we were.
so, we were seated at the pre-lunch-rush time of, say, about 11:30 or so.
no sooner had we been seated, that our 6-inch-acrylic-nailed waitress (with a spiral-perm and tendroils around her face) asked us to move to the next booth over because "the president was coming for lunch".
well, we complied, and excitedly thought that maybe she meant George W. Bush.
She came back and i asked her which president would be joining us, and she said "the president of the store", and she hurried away again. so, she came back and i said, "of THIS store or of the WHOLE SPAGHETTI WAREHOUSE chain", and she told me, "the one of the whole chain".
well, i was excited....and so was J. We fully anticipated our meal being paid for, a brush with "fame" of some sorts...you know. She told us he'd be there in 20 - 30 minutes at this point.
we tried to eat slowly, but surely they were trying to hurry us along (are we that scrubby, J.??), but we were NOT budging until we saw the Pres. and his entourage.
Finally, i asked when he would be there, and she said that unfortunately he wouldn't be there for another hour or so (and we didn't have time to spare). she said she was afraid to come tell us because she had made us move, and i think she knew how excited we were.
J. commented that we should have at least got a free dessert out of it, but it wasn't even offered by Tendroil Hair Waitress....the one who set us up for such a hard let-down.

HA! Such a fantastic play-by-play of the "warehouse incident!" Let us not forget that our waitress MAY have formerly been employeed by Denny's! I am sooo looking forward to next week! I'll call when I'm finished meeting with Linda K. on Tuesday afternoon.
Safe travels!
Small edit....I have one extra "e" in employed, it was bothering me and I had to come clean with my error!
please note that i did, however, have a presidential moment 2 days later when i did see the President of The Ohio State University at the game. it made up for the whole ordeal. thank goodness.
