while at a grocery store last week, i got into a lengthy conversation with a male, young-20-something cashier due to the fact that he was snacking on basil leaves.
yes.
he was tearing the basil leaves into small pieces and chomping on them daintily. i am curious about such activities, so after inquiring, he explained that eating basil is really good for you (he wasn't sure why), and his grandmother gave it to him when he was little, and also (possibly the best reason) was becasue it makes you feel full. SO - for only like 5 dollars (and a couple of calories), you can feel full and smell horrible. nice.
this young man was ALSO wearing a watch pinky ring. so....the moral of the story is to NEVER trust a man with a pinky ring chewing on basil. never.

HAHAHA! Too funny!
I love basil, but I could NEVER imagine snacking on it plain. Yuck!
Also....was he snacking while he was working at the cash register? I have never seen anyone eating while they were working!
My guess is that he is single. Can you imagine kissing someone who tastes/smells like BASIL?!
You attract some interesting folk into your presence. :)
yes, he was quite interesting. he was the cashier at the self-checkout areas. so....just sort of standing there, making conversation about snacking on basil.
and i did, in fact, suggest that it would sort of seep through his pores. he seemed okay with this, based on the fact that the health benefits (that he couldn't name) far outweigh the odor. ???
Totally weird experience.
I wonder what prompted his grandma to give him basil to begin with...
WHAT a weirdo.
How chews on that? If it were mint, ok - yeah, fine.
And a pinky ring?

Interesting....and by interesting I mean creepy. Sounds like something out of a Will Ferrell movie. Haha. Either way, good blog material.
Um...I feel like I must comment on this really bizarre man, but I am not sure what to say. ???
