the intent was NOT to reinvent myself yesterday as i walked into to a new hair salon in my new town for a haircut/color. i wanted the summer blonde out, and wanted it shaped up. pretty simple.
well, i walked out as kind of a reinvented self. it's kind of nice actually to have the ability to have someone do something really unexpected to your hair and you like it (not like 6 months ago when it all got chopped off by mistake).
also, this hair salon (or maybe it was the stylist) was somewhat different, in that this was part of our awkward conversation:
Stylist: Do you drink?
Me: Yes.
Stylist (awkwardly, but nonchantly): Do you wanna go out tonight? (insert uncomfortable laugh)
Me: Uh, sure, maybe.
Stylist: Do you want a drink right now? (as hair color is being applied)
Me (still uncertain): Um, ok.
Stylist: Do you mind if I have one?
Me: Uh, no.
so, she goes to the back of the salon and gets us each a glass of wine. i was so confused about when she wanted to drink....was it right then and there as she was applying color to my hair (yes) or later when we went out together? it wasn't like we were just hitting it off like old best friends, so i wasn't clear on her invitation. the oddest thing was that (thankfully) she didn't invite me to go out again.

Hahaha! What?? She was drinking at work? Wow, that's some job. She must have a really laid back boss.
THAT is a funny story. Good thing you liked your hair, otherwise you could be talking about how some drunk girl turned your hair purple.
How very strange. I know salons will offer drinks to clients, but I've never heard of the stylist joining in. Very, very strange...

Like you were going to say, "No." to the "Do you care if I have one?" If you said NO, she could've done something very wrong to your hair.
I might like going to that salon. I've never gotten wine before. I'd be a little weirded out by my stylist drinking along with me. Maybe next time, ask how many it takes to get her drunk. And how many she's had so far today.

First, yay for getting a great new style!! And I guess if you got that new style while she was drinking then I say, hey drink away!!!
P.S. I watched one of those daytime court room shows (Unemployed + bored = watching anything on TV) and this lady was trying to sue a hairstylist b/c he had a glass of wine while he was doing her hair. She didn't win, but at that point I wondered do people really drink while doing someones hair. And I guess they do!!

Can't wait to see the hair cut. I think the drinking conversation is hilarious. Were you slightly nervous that she was coloring your hair and partaking in libations at the same time?
