as if.....

ok, i've never REALLY had this happen to me in this much of an in-your-face-rude fashion.
i was at the vet today, and my Marlie and I were finished with her procedures (nothing major) and i went to the counter to pay.
the 1st receptionist was chit-chatting the day away to a family member or friend....going on and on about Christmas shopping and so-and-so's sister's daughter and such-and-such about this-and-that.
i was physically situated right in FRONT of her, and literally a mere 3 feet away or something. and she DIDN'T even glance up to politely say "someone will be right with you". this continued for about 4 minutes (seemed like 20).
i mean, i do consider myself to be a VERY patient person. i didn't sigh loudly or stare at her, or let out a "hmmph" or anything! but, i just thought it was SO BIZARRE that she didn't even acknowledge the situation. it felt bizarre and weird enough to be a Candid Camera scene or part of that MTV show Boiling Point or something.
Receptionist #2 whisked out a few minutes later to rudely collect my money - not even ending with a "bye, have a nice day" or "happy holidays".
i guess pet-owners get picky about the vet they take their pets to? they didn't even give Marlie a dog cookie!

That is SO rude. A little common curtousy & kindness never hurt anyone! What makes those two think your time is any less important then theirs?!?!

Wow! Will you go back? I'd be hardpressed to find reason to, unless you don't know of other vets in the area...

TOTALLY rude. Unacceptable. I wouldn't return. When we'd take Nattie, the whole office would greet her and pet her. And she always left with a cookie.

UNacceptable, amiga.

B-rent can attest to the fact that if I would have been in your shoes I would have been "harumphing"...loudly. I think you should have commented on the personal life she seemed so willing to share with you. I think a little rude advice on her Christmas shopping or her afternoon agenda would have been in order. Next time she calls you to the counter grab your cell phone and proceed with your conversation, even if it is a fake one.
