keepin' it real

you know, in this thing called life, we all have rough spots. an unexpected upset, or a terrible "phase" or an all-around having to live with a bad decision, etc. the "downs" make the ups possible, and i've made a few observations during a recent down time in my life.
1). give everything a week. after a week of something rough, the silver lining is suddenly able to be seen
2). feel all of your feelings. for whatever reason, humans feel the need to rush through the negative feelings that life inevitably brings. "hurry up, get over it" is what is commonly projected. but feeling all the feelings is what fuels people to move onto the making sense and actually healing and living healthily.
3). i've realized that everyone is almost always working something out. if the job is good, the housing situation is not. if the housing situation is good, there are relationship issues. if the relationship is great, it's family. the grass may look greener, but everyone has lawn maintenance issues when it all comes down to it! this sounds terribly obvious, but it's easy to feel like everyone else must have it so much better...when, in all reality, everyone is equally working through bad and good stuff simultaneously.
4). i'm suddenly feeling like this is a really lame set of observations.

on another note.....i'm almost SURE that my busy season at work is over and all these overtime hours will soon be but a distant memory. i feel like i'm coming out of some sort of cocoon or something.
