they can flavor water.
they can make jelly beans taste like puke and dirt.
they can make anything taste like anything, really.
but why can't they simply make the glue on envelopes taste like mint or cherry or even something outrageous like key lime pie?

You should use a damp sponge. Remember what happened to George Costanza's fiance!
I work at an office where our bid envelopes are mint flavored, and I know that my friend says that his offering envelopes at church are mint flavored, but I don't know where you would get them and have never seen them in the store.
