do people have dens anymore?
i feel like the word "den" is a word from my 80's childhood years, no?
my friend was talking yesterday about when she had mono as a highschooler and she said she was set-up in the den for a few weeks.
and it struck me that we don't really use that word anymore, do we?

You're right, you don't really hear "den" anymore. I think it's been replaced by "office." It's still the same smaller room closed off from the rest of the house by french doors, but it's no longer a "den." I think living rooms are becoming obsolete, as well. At least formal ones are. Now everyone has just one family room or great room. A formal living room seems kind of redundant.
Who knew home trends could be so fascinating?
The word "den" has gone the way of the "davenport".
Sad.
(Do you remember Mike Brady's den on the Brady Bunch? Where is architect's desk was? Does your brother have one of those?)
