if you haven't caught the fact that i live in the REAL-DEAL south (...confederate flags still flown, 50% literacy rate...etc), please make note now.
i'm not sure if this happens EVERYWHERE or just here...so please advise.
i went to eat sushi at the ONLY place you can get sushi in my "city" of 55,000 (hard to believe, i know, but please refer to point #1) and my friend heard that they put mayonnaise in their california roll crabmeat.
i found it hard to believe as i don't put sushi and mayonnaise together.
low and behold, it's TRUE.
has anyone else ever heard of this?!

That does not sound good.
We had a really great Japanese sushi chef get stuck in Ohio for a few years -- he used to make "American-style sushi" with BLT rolls and such...
I have seen cream cheese, but mayo - GROSS! That just isn't right at all!
Yuck. Mayo does not belong in sushi. I got some "tuna rolls" at the mall once and it was literally tuna salad in sticky rice. I guess that is what you get for getting sushi at the mall.
