i think exclamation marks are funny.
today there were 2 different parts of a very short email that included sets of !!!!! five exclamation points each. all the email really said was "i got your email" and "thanks".
then, on the way home i notice that CVS has an electronic sign that states:
"We have bread!!!!"
is bread at CVS that exciting? when was the last time i stopped to get my fresh bread at CVS? oh, NEVER. but they were sure excited.
i think there is an overuse of exclamation points in the world today!!!!!

I do this all the time and I have no idea why. They are usually appropriately placed. You know, when I would be overly dramatic in my conversation. Well, I can't be overly dramatic over email, so that's where the dramatic exclamation marks come in.
That's my excuse. (the other points in your email, I agree, the extra exclamation was definitely unnecessary!!!!! :)
HAHA! I bet that it is some damn good bread there!
I admit I am a bit of an overuser of the mark, but I feel that it fits my personality b/c that is exactly how I would say it but I agree with quiet oasis, it is appropriatly placed.
However, I totally agree that they are WAY overused in general.
Bottom line? Bread deserves at least TWELVE exclamation marks.
