my favorite beach (sand) is located on the gulf coast of FL - in sarasota.
siesta key beach is seriously the nicest beach i've ever laid eyes on.
i used to live 15 minutes from the beach, but alas - i'm a mere 23 hours (by plane - this week) away, and love every time i get to return.
favorite part: the sand is largely made of quartz, so it's very sugary and soft feeling and never gets hot. no kidding. you can go in the blazing-heat of august and your feet will be oddly cooled off by sticking them in the sand.
i love it here; everyone should make a pilgrimage.
