i definitely feel like i was part of history in some small way this year.
in 2008, the nation will graduate 3.32 milion high school seniors and send them out into the world. my profession landed me smack in the middle of watching the baby boom's babies march to the pomp and circumstance tune.
next year will hold 3.33 million more seniors, and then i think the boomlets are supposed to taper off from here.
either way, as i've worked to help get students into pretty selective colleges, watched them succeed (AND earn a ton of merit-based scholarships), it's been pretty exciting (trying at times!) - but very cool nonetheless.

A wise old crackhead once said, "I believe the children are our future." I couldn't agree more.
Seriously, I appreciate what you do. Even though those kids are nearly adults, I still consider your work a form of child advocacy. People have no right to complain about the state of affairs in this country (crime, unemployment rate, etc.), if they're doing nothing to prepare and assist subsequent generations. Those kids have the potential to do great things with their lives, to the benefit of all of us.
t.w.i.t. - that was very kind of you, thank you.
