...that statistically speaking, 92% of the country's population states that they have "strong religious beliefs".
that number seemed extremely high to me, no?
also, 30% of the adult male population suffers from some form of insomnia. that also seems high.

I agree, those statistics seem a bit high. What population were they getting this information from?
the insomnia one was reported on the Today Show and the religious views one was on Nightline or the Nightly News or whatever Brian Williams is on.
did i pay attention to WHAT the information source was? of course not.
That 92% is crazy!! I would have never thought it would be that high...at least using the word strong. Interesting
I was reading about that yesterday. Interesting.
The statistic about "strong religious beliefs" does sound high, but I don't doubt that it's higher than we think. For one, having strong religious beliefs doesn't necessarily mean that you practice them. Also, in our country, religion and politics are inextricably linked. Our media is very liberal, whether people care to admit it or not. Our celebrity political agenda is very much glamorized (can you name 5 Republicans in Hollywood? How about 3? Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't count.) Many Americans get their news from The Daily Show. The mainstream media is very liberal, with the obvious exception of Fox News. My point is, our media makes a mockery of Republicans and the religious right. I feel that this 1)gives false representation of what the majority of Americans think about religion, and 2)makes some feel embarrassed to admit their faith for fear of being unpopular.
That's just how I see it.
