(semi) Mystery Solved

remember when i NEEDED!! to know the REAL reason why Chick-Fil-A was named Chick-Fil-A?
well, i had emailed them a few weeks back to ask where the name came from, and a very kind and patient email response was awaiting me in my inbox yesterday (i could have guessed MOST of the reason for the name, but the real reason for the "A" at the end is intriguing):

Thank you for taking the time to contact Chick-fil-A. You are very important to us, and we appreciate your interest in the name,
"Chick-fil-A."

In the early sixties, our founder, S. Truett Cathy, came up with the name for his new chicken sandwich while driving one day. "I took the words "chick" and "filet" and hit upon the name "Chick-fil-A". I especially liked the "A" at the end. It reminded me of top quality, sanitary conditions, and excellent service", explained Mr. Cathy.

If you are interested in learning more about the history of Chick-fil-A, Mr. Cathy has written a book called, Eat Mor Chikin: Inspire More
People, that is available for purchase at www.truettcathy.com or at many local Chick-fil-A Restaurant.

Again, thank you for your time and interest in Chick-fil-A.

First, I totally love that you emailed them!! Awesome! And very interesting. I would have never got that "A" thing but cool.

from perusing around on their website, it really does feel like it's a solid company. i mean, they ALWAYS say "it's my pleasure" when you ask for a drink refill or anything else.
they are also always closed on Sundays which i think is a really nice gesture to their workers. now, when i was craving chick-fil-A yesterday, this DID NOT HELP, but i thought "well, at least their workers are enjoying a hard-earned day of rest"

I absolutely love it that you emailed them about their origin! That's pretty awesome.

I enjoy their chicken. It doesn't look/taste/resemble the big hard chunks of chicken that McNuggets used to be. Ew.

Chick-fil-A nuggets with waffle fries and a lemonade is a good way to spend an afternoon.

My friend in high school always called it Chick-fil-A, with a short a, not a long a. I almost forgot that it was pronounced "filet".
