when my boss goes on his fun vacations, i revert to childlike behaviors, requesting that he brings me things that are "native to the land". i usually am accepting of a small piece of chocolate - even if it's just FROM the land, not OF that land. on his recent trip to new zealand and australia, i first requested the usual chocolate and then threw in the Vegemite request in honor of the Men at Work tune that i belt out at the top of my lungs in the car. he took the request above and beyond, bringing me chocolate, some Vegemite that i refuse to eat and even some rum from new zealand!

It's a yeast. My hubby used to work with a guy from Australia. He had a going away party b/c he was moving back and of course he eats it. He dared anyone to try it...being the daredevil I am, I said "I WILL!".
It was the single most disgusting thing I think I have ever eaten. So my advice...do not open that jar!
I also love cliche things from foreign countries.

It's a spread, kinda like peanut butter. I had it on a cracker.
