mama did not say there'd be days like this

there are certain days and tasks in the adult life where you think "so, this is what it means to be grown up". for me, these moments include picking up the dry-cleaning, pushing around a cart full of groceries, taking care of car repairs, mowing the lawn. you know, things you never really had to worry about as a kid.

add another one to the list: organizing closets. i am both regretful and thankful that i did not take a "before" shot of my linen closet. my linen closet growing up was generally organized. i remember my best friend's mom kept their linen closet much like i usually do - a hot mess.

but, today, i cleaned both of my clothes closets and my linen and bathroom cupboards. i don't have a ton of space in my house for storage, so i realized after throwing out a huge garbage bag of crap that i have accumulated TOO many cosmetic products. half-used bottles of straightener, volumizer, a million eye-shadows and hair ties. so much crap. i also have 3 trash bags of clothes to give away - which made me feel organized as far as what my wardrobe needs (not wants) are currently. phew.

now....if i could only find the matches to those last 5 socks i'd feel like i was this (-----) much closer to world domination...one adult task at a time!!

i give you the "after" shot of the closet. it's a sucky little picture and a small closet (one shelf above and below what you see here), but it's the little things.

That is one fine-looking closet.

WELL DONE, amiga. Well done.

(I throw away missing socks. I have to. It's just too much pressure to find the matches.)

VERY nice! I hate cleaning out the closet so kudos to you for doing that. I like to use my closet as the place where things go to get out of the way and never be seen again for years!
