the uniform project. what is YOUR uniform?

have you seen this story about this NY woman who wore the same black dress for 1 year?

article here.

so, yes, she DID technically wear the same dress for a year. but i've actually seen this project done (several years back, some hippy in Washington) where she pretty much wore just the same plain dress and didn't do all this jazzing up and accessorizing.

so, whatever, she gets credit for wearing the same thing for 365 days and raised some money for charity (kudos). but... but...

it just looks like another layer to her clothes in most cases. i'm just not sure if she truly gets the prize. but good for her for the charity part.

ever since i read this i have been trying to figure out what i could commit to wearing for 365 days straight. i'm thinking i would go for some jeans....(could get hot in July in Virginia). hmm...any thoughts out there for what you could commit to wearing for a full year?

A whole year! What about pjs?

If I had to commit to one outfit it would have to be a workout outfit or else I would not exercise for an entire year - not acceptable. Although showing up to a wedding in tennis shoes and a sports bra isn't really cool either.

Am I over thinking this?

i don't think you are over thinking. it would be a big commitment.
i assume you could make up the rules and, hey, your year of wearing PJ's or workout clothes for you a year would be the excuse to get out of dress-up clothes for weddings! perfecto!

I'm way too addicted to comfort to choose anything cute. It'd end up being these awful pajama pants my mother-in-law gave my husband (they have dollar bills and "Big Money!" printed on them) and a T-shirt. If it was acceptable to wear those to work, weddings, church, etc., I'd be good. :)

Did this woman sleep in the dress? What did she wear while she washed it?

Yeah, it would be nothing cute for me.....jeans, a sweatshirt and a t-shirt underneath. which by the way IS my outfit of choice 285 days out of the year...so not a big stretch for me!
