moving: a case for staying put as long as possible

i love this "what are you doing". "nothing". "if you think moving is hard, try moving while nobody is looking".

i have to be honest: i feel like i've been trying to hide my upcoming move from my neighbors.

why?

well, they are really nice people. it's not like we know each other that well. i have lived by them for 4 years (the ones on each side, and across the street are the ones i'm referring to) and i don't even know their names. i'm positive that the un-stamped Christmas cards are from them and they also do not know my name.

but i try to smuggle boxes into my car in the dark hours of the evening, plop them into my storage unit, that will hold my stuff until i get back from Mexico at the end of May when i will then move it all 2 hours North.

kind of humbling to think that all of my belongings can sit and collect dust and pollen in a 10' by 10' cell of sorts.

anyway, moving is hard. it's hard work! it's been good to get rid of stuff, organize and pack in a less haphazard way than i have done so in the past.

but it's also emotionally hard. i could just cry thinking about my little house that really is nothing to write home about. just a small, 2-bedroom structure with a big back yard. it kind of smells like a grandma lives in it (i know, i'm 32) most of the time, but it's been my home. my roof over my head, for the better or worse.

this little Note From the Universe said it perfectly today; it hit the nail on the head as to why we always seem to make things so nostalgic when they are ending, or as we look back upon things:

Ever wonder, Malissa , when looking back at your life, why it's easier to remember the good than the bad, the pleasant than the unpleasant, the laughs than the cries?
It's simply because there's always a lot more of the former.

so true, Universe, so true!!

Did I miss the post where you said you were moving?

Do you have a new job and all that jazz? If so, fun!, and congratulations!

Oh, this gave me the chills.

Moving is NEVER easy. That house has so many memories for you. :(

BIG hug.

(And I can't wait to see you! Bring Ferg's lipstick.)
