oddity of the south

Not only can you buy a large cup of sweet tea at McDonald's (in VA/the south?), but you can also purchase a whole gallon of it.
i can't imagine, what seems like, grocery shopping at McDonald's. it just strikes me as odd to pick up something in bulk at a fast-food drive through.

What is sweet tea? I've heard of it, but how is it different from traditional, 'ole Ohio Iced Tea?

That's what bothers me about the south. I HATE sugar/sweetener in my tea. And many places don't even offer un-sweat tea (at least those few that I've actually been to). Really, it's just as easy to add it, but impossible to take it away.

I LOVE sweat tea! Totally different and better taste then just adding sugar to your traditional tea!

When I worked down south for the summer I drank it up everytime I could get my hands on it! And they do love it down there, so though it is funny you can purchase a gallon at the D...it isn't too surprising!

Now that I've lived in the south for 10 years of my 36, I can honestly say sweet tea is why the Civil War was fought. And as part of the treaty, the North is not allowed to offer this tastey refreshment.

And they do offer regular unsweetened tea, but they will refer to you as a Yankee.
