it is my opinion that mother's day is just a really tough holiday to shop for.

Mom: what did you buy at the mall today?
Dad: oh, nothing.
Me: um, yeah we did, remember dad? we bought a pair of size 8 boots!
Mom: mmhhmm.....that's nice.
Dad: well, there goes that surprise!

yes, mother's day is the hardest holiday to shop for. second only to father's day. LOL.
I bought my mom some stuff from Yankee Candle -- for her master bath. Sounds odd, but her decor is sea shells and Yankee's summer line is full of sea shell themed things. So, I went that way.
For some reason, Mother's Day isn't a hard one for me to buy for.
My mom loves flowers... so I'll get her some flowers to plant outside. R's mom appreciates spending time with everyone, so we'll probably take her out to breakfast or something.
I usually get cards for grandmothers, which they seem to appreciate.
I think I am going home and surprising my mom. I live a few hours away, so it will be nice to see her! As for a gift, maybe a good bottle of wine and she has lost alot of weight so some new jeans! YAY MOM!!
